Jesus Once Was a Little Child


Early in the month I set out to write something for Chuck.  I’ve written a lot with my lyricist, husband and comedian extraordinaire, but nothing specifically for him.  Ever since he was young his favorite song has been Jesus Once Was a Little Child.  I asked him what voice he would like it arranged in.  Without hesitation he replied, “The oboe.”  So with that direction in mind I let the song lead me into an Ennio-Morricone-Gabriel’s-Oboe kind of mood. 

Music, like nothing else, has the power to bring peace to one’s heart.  My hope is that in the quiet calm, this music reaches the child in us all and conveys our Savior’s love.
